Step out with new Outdoor Arts Creative Zooms starting this July

By 7th July 2020Uncategorised

Join Articulture and special guests with a new series of creative zooms starting Tuesday 14th July, open to anyone interested in creating art in public space.

We are thrilled to kick off the first with co-hosts the National Association of Street Artists (NASA-UK), the highly creative and sometimes maverick UK network of artists and producers – see intergalactic programme below!

Inclusive, subversive and diverse, outdoor arts can play a crucial part in helping us navigate new ways of working, and the healing that our society needs to rebuild itself. Join in with the virtual sunshine or out in your garden or on the street to reconnect, experiment and share, exploring making and showcasing new work in these challenging times, with as much joy and creativity as we can squeeze in!

Articulture’s creative zooms will take between July and November 2020. They are open and informal – free to drop in and out as you please during the two hours with your lunch, kids, pets – and with all welcome aboard to take part and help shape the series as it unfolds

As a diverse group of freelancers based in Wales, Articulture warmly welcomes people from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities including Black, Asian and minority ethnic/POC, refugee, D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, working class and/or LGBTQI+ to this space. Please do contact us to discuss any access requirements you have in advance, so we can provide facilities for you to take part.

Week 1 – ‘In Space’

Co-hosted by Articulture and National Association of Street Artists (NASA-UK)’s Gareth Price-Baghurst (The Fabularium) and Sophia Knox-Miller (Physical Fool).

> 11:30 – 12:00pm Mix and mingle

Arrive at your own pace for some unstructured mix and mingle time. Just hang out for a chat and a catch-up with whoever might be there, with the option of heading to quiet spaces for smaller meets.

> 12:00 – 12:15pm Intergalactical speed dating

2 short rounds of small pods (aka break out rooms) to briefly meet, greet, and introduce yourself to whoever you may find there!

> 12:15 – 12:25pm Find your lunar module

Where we get sorted into rooms and make a few announcements. Choose your own adventure! No need to tell us in advance, we will sort you on the spot.

> 12:25 – 1:00pm Adventures in space(s)

Lunar module 1: Creative Space – You will collectively devise/decide on a short action to perform on your streets simultaneously, film it, and figure out the best way to share it back to the main room! Led by Sophia Knox-Miller, NASA and Physical Fool.

Lunar module 2: Share Space – How are you? What are you doing? Not doing? A time for a bit of ‘show & tell’ of your current ideas, work in progress, and projects with others to bounce around, problem solve and build.

Lunar module 3: Practical Space – This is the first in a series of creative zooms. What would you like to see next? Drop in here to let us know ideas for the next ones and if you would like to collaborate.

The Airlock (aka the water cooler) – The hang-out zone.

> 1:00 – 1:25pm Each group reports back to the main room followed by a general discussion

> 1:25 – 1:30pm Closing notes

Don’t forget you are welcome to bring a virtual background if you feel like it. Find an image that represents your work – a logo or photo, etc… to use as a virtual background throughout the session as a way of getting to know each other a bit more. The image will have to be a picture format i.e. jpeg, png, or bmp for zoom to be able to use it.
