Articulture’s ‘expedition’ to Wye Valley River Festival was one of two networking events held in the Welsh landscape in 2014, with the aim of sparking the development of outdoor arts unique to Wales.
The event focus was partnerships – with the view that high quality outdoor arts rely on strong collaborative vision and support. The new Wye Valley River Festival provided a forum and live case study for this theme, born out of an alliance between the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Desperate Men, Welsh and English artists and local communities.
35 practitioners, all interested in exploring partnerships, met up for the day to share experience, as well as venturing out into the heart of the festival to see the Articulture/WVRF commission by Chloe Loftus Dance.
Speakers included Desperate Men; Wye Valley AONB; Arts Council of Wales; National Theatre Wales; NoFit State Circus; Mr and Mrs Clark; Marc Rees; and Phillippa Haynes, Wye Valley River Festival. Attendees included Natural Resources Wales and National Trust.
