Join Articulture and others across Wales this summer to develop your skills and understanding of artistic creation in the public space with FAI-AR’s free online course ‘Create in Public Space’ starting Monday 13 July 2020.
What is public space? Why do artists choose to work in these unconventional places? How do they use these spaces around the world? What kinds of legislation and technical characteristics do professionals have to take into account?
Open to anyone who is interested in creating and learning more about art in public space, ‘Create in Public Space’ is created by FAI-AR, Europe’s sole higher education training programme on art in public space, in collaboration with the Europe-wide IN SITU platform and the French national organisation Artcena.
The course is packed with tools and inspiration to help you understand and play a role in artistic creation in public space. Learn about different artworks designed for public space, the way they interact with their locations, and the specific features of writing and engaging audiences in this context.

Taking part in the Wales Summer study group you will complete 4 modules over 4 weeks. Each will take around 3 hours to complete in your own time. Complementing this will be weekly study group discussions on Mondays from 2pm – 3pm, facilitated by Articulture. Group members can also zoom in half hour before – 1.30pm – 2pm – to meet more informally.
This study group actively welcomes people from all backgrounds, cultures and abilities including Black, Asian and minority ethnic/POC, refugee, D/deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, working class and/or LGBTQI+. We welcome discussion on access requirements you have, and can provide facilities where needed.
