Networking, pitching & picnics @ Greenwich & Docklands International Festival 2015

By 30th June 2015Uncategorised

Articulture and 12 Wales-based artists and arts organisations were at the inspirational Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF), London’s leading festival of outdoor performing arts (theatre, dance, circus and street arts), from the 26 -28 June.

As part of the festival the Welsh delegates attended a professional networking programme run by expert outdoor arts producers Xtrax, with a hub for delegates across the UK and Europe, providing a range of special events in a marquee in the centre of the festival action.

Delegates were able to attend GDIF & Xtrax by applying to Articulture and Creu Cymru for bursary support, funded by the Arts Council of Wales and Creu Cymru. It is one initiative as part of an ongoing programme created by Articulture, taking forward recommendations from Wales based practitioners to develop the outdoor arts sector in Wales.

GDIF and the Xtrax professional programme provided a platform for Articulture to hold an intimate, and highly experiential networking event for Wales based practitioners, set in the context of an international outdoor arts event with 300 delegates from across Europe, and a 3-day programme of exciting new outdoor works.

The Wales crew were warmly welcomed and allocated a couple of spaces in the marketplace to showcase the Wales based artists work and meet other delegates.

Xtrax also featured two Wales based arts organisations in their pitching showcase – Chloe Loftus Dance and NoFit State Circus – and also promoted Welsh work through verbal acknowledgements in speeches, and social media posts etc

Refreshed by a whirlwind of amazing spectacle, inspiring presentations, and a wonderful sunny picnic with the Wales contingent, plenty of connections were made! Look out for the first of many international outdoor arts adventures, and the start we hope of many new projects and partnerships…
